This is the
16th Season for the American Music Festival concert series in
Beaufort & Morehead City. It is a non-profit organization that
relies on the volunteer efforts by local music lovers of the
Morehead City & Beaufort.
The American Music Festival brings beautiful music to Beaufort
and Morehead City from October through May. Five concerts are
held yearly.

Held this year on
May 12-14th. A free family event. This annual festival presents
an impressive array of musical events with talent representing
jazz, pop, classical, country, rock 'n roll, gospel, reggae, ska
and bluegrass. With the beautiful Beaufort waterfront and
historic district as its stage, the festival is a free,
three-day event designed to appeal to every member of the
family!

Carteret Community
Theater is a group of amateur actor students from the Carteret
County Community College. They puts on a series of plays each
year, including children's productions in summer and at
Christmas, dinner theaters and other staged performance. |

The park highlights
Fort Macon, one of the most complete forts of the Civil War era.
It is totally intact, covering about five acres on the tip of
Bogue Banks, where it was located to protect the channel and
Beaufort Harbor from attacks at sea. The fort was restored in
2003. Reenactments take place in April, July and September. Free
admission. |

Faison Safrit Center Self-guided or narrated tours are available
of The Old Burying Ground, which grew up around the building
used for sessions of the Court and for reading the service of
the Anglican Church in St. John's Parish. Hear the stories of
the many interesting characters buried here. Visitor Center
Hours are 9:30 am to 5:00 pm (March through November) and 10:00
am to 4:00 pm (December through February). Guided Tours of the
Old Burying Ground are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday at 2:30 pm from June through September.

On Saturday evenings
between Memorial Day and Labor Day, this popular concert series
brings an interesting range of music to the Jaycee Park on the
Morehead City waterfront. Flamenco guitar, acoustic rock,
reggae-it's all there for the listening on those beautiful
summer evenings. Just bring a chair or blanket. The rest is
absolutely free. It's sponsored by the Morehead City Parks and
Recreation Department. |
